The Upick Garden

All members, whether they pick up at the farm or have a delivered share, are welcome to visit the U-pick garden during

Open Farm Hours: Tuesdays and Fridays from 8 am - 7 pm, Wednesdays and Saturdays from 8 am -noon, in the harvest season, June - October.

Weekly allotted picking amounts are listed on a whiteboard outside the barn, and may be included in the weekly harvest update email.

For many members, visiting the U-pick garden is a highlight of the CSA season. Picking beautiful bright flowers, watching butterflies and bees, roaming the garden paths and sampling cherry tomatoes or fresh snap beans, enjoying the peace and tranquility of the farm; these simple pleasures are found in the garden. And this is where children begin to understand where their food comes from, and to enjoy the fresh vegetables and fruits of each season.

Listed below is the approximate seasonal availability of crops in the upick garden. These dates are an estimate that are variable due to weather and other factors.

CSA membership = Seasonal Eating.

 

Tomatoes are usually available beginning mid-July and continuing through the end of September, depending on frost date.

 

Learn when to expect the many veggies in a CSA share through the season:

 

June is the month of greens, plus berries, and start of summer squash!

July and August are for cukes, melons, tomatoes, sweet corn, peppers, eggplant and more!

September is a wonderful combination of summer crops, fall roots and squashes, and greens.

October and November are the harvest time, bringing a hearty pile of roots, broccoli, cabbage, winter squash and greens.
